Given that the solar panels get mounted on top of a van, will the bifacial panel make use of the underside for the full bifacial effect?
There is no specific separate wattage output rating for the front versus the back of the panel. The panel is rated at 220 watts in ideal (perfect) conditions. A safe bet for solar panels in general is typically 75 to 80% of rated output on a given day. The back of the panel also generates power but output will depend on the surface reflection characteristics and the angle at which they are mounted. Bifacial panels can generate up to 30% additional power output in ideal conditions and angle orientation. You likely wont see that amount of increase when a panel is on top of a roof rack but there is additional power boost from all the light reflecting off the roof of the van.
