Victron Energy MultiPlus 12/2000/80-50 120V VE.Bus (UL Certified) Inverter/Charger | PMP122200102

General Overview

The MultiPlus combines multiple functionalities into a single unit. This powerful device serves as:

  • True sine wave inverter
  • Advanced battery charger with adaptive charge technology
  • High-speed AC transfer switch

This multifunctional unit also incorporates several advanced features to handle a variety of applications.

Key Features:

Uninterrupted AC Power

  • In the event of grid failure, or disconnection of shore or generator power, the MultiPlus automatically activates and takes over power supply to connected loads.
  • Transfer time is less than 20 milliseconds, ensuring no disruption to electronic devices like computers.

Parallel & 3-Phase Operation Capability

  • Up to 6 inverters can operate in parallel for higher power output.
  • The system can also be configured for 3-phase operation.

PowerControl – Limited Generator or Shore Power Handling

  • Using the Multi Control Panel, users can set a maximum generator or shore current.
  • The MultiPlus optimizes power usage, ensuring that excess power is used for battery charging, thus preventing overloading the generator or shore supply.

PowerAssist – Boosting Shore or Generator Power Capacity

  • This feature allows the MultiPlus to supplement the capacity of the generator or shore power during peak load periods.
  • Once the load reduces, excess power is used to recharge the batteries.

Programmable Relay

  • The MultiPlus comes with a programmable relay (default set as an alarm relay).
  • The relay can be customized for various applications, such as starter relay for a generator.

Advanced Battery Charger with Adaptive Charging

  • The MultiPlus offers adaptive 4-stage charging: Bulk – Absorption – Float – Storage.
  • It automatically adjusts the charging process to optimize battery health, preventing overcharging or excessive gassing.

Battery Safe Mode

  • Prevents damage from excessive gassing by limiting voltage increase once gassing voltage is reached during a high charge current.

Storage Mode for Reduced Maintenance

  • After 24 hours of no discharge, the MultiPlus enters Storage Mode, reducing the float voltage to minimize gassing and corrosion.
  • Once a week, it raises the voltage back to absorption level to equalize the battery.

Dual DC Outputs

  • Main DC terminal delivers full output current.
  • Second DC output is limited to 1A, designed for charging a starter battery.

Temperature Compensation for Battery Longevity

  • Temperature sensor adjusts the charging voltage to protect maintenance-free batteries from overcharging.

Solar Energy Storage & Grid Compliance

  • If used in a solar energy storage system, grid compliance is achieved by selecting the appropriate grid code country setting through the VEConfigure tool.
  • Password protection secures the settings, preventing unauthorized adjustments.

Certification Notes:

  • The MultiPlus is IEC62109.1 certified and CEC approved for off-grid use.
  • Additional certifications (IEC 62109.2 and AS 4777.2.2015) are required for grid-interactive systems in Australia.
