March: the strategic time to prepare your pontoon boat before the season
William Simard

Even though winter is still in full swing in Quebec, one thing is certain: pontoon boat season is fast approaching.

Every year, we see the same scenario play out:

April arrives. The snow melts. Boat owners start thinking about their pontoon boats...

And suddenly, everyone wants to have repairs done at the same time.

The result: longer wait times, rushed decisions... and sometimes a delayed start to the season.

The good news? We're ready and available for your projects right now.

And March is the perfect time to plan everything and get started.

Why March is a key month

March is a month of transition.

We're not yet in the rush of spring, but we're starting to look ahead to summer. This is exactly the time to make thoughtful decisions.

It's also the ideal time to:

• Review photos from last season

• Make a note of what really bothered you

• Assess the condition of the benches, floor, or canvas

• Plan work before the rush

When we wait until April or May, we often act reactively. In March, we act strategically.

Look back on the last season (and be honest)

Ask yourself a few simple questions:

• Were the benches still comfortable?

• Was the flooring showing signs of wear?

• Did you notice any soft spots in the floor?

• Were you really satisfied with the overall appearance?

Often, we get used to certain flaws... until they become a real problem.

Taking the time to think about it now can help you avoid more costly surprises later.

What you can't see can be expensive

A pontoon boat may look “fine” visually, but hide signs of wear and tear:

• Interior foam saturated with moisture

• Early signs of mold

• Weakened structure under the floor

• Fragile seams

These issues will only get worse over time. And the longer you wait, the more extensive the repairs will be.

March is therefore the perfect time to schedule an assessment or repairs, before the season officially begins.

Be ready for the first warm days

There's nothing more frustrating than seeing the first beautiful days of May arrive... and having to wait for repairs to be completed.

Preparing your pontoon boat in advance gives you peace of mind. It means knowing that as soon as the water is ready, you will be too.

Start thinking about summer now

A pontoon boat isn't just a boat.

It's days and outings with family and friends, memories on the water, sunsets... And those moments need to be planned earlier than you might think.

March may not be synonymous with boating yet. But it's the perfect month to make sure your summer goes exactly as you imagined.

If you'd like to discuss the condition of your pontoon boat or plan any work before the start of the season, our team is here to help.

Because a successful summer often starts well before you hit the water.
